Myriad has been working with the Mapoon Council for 7 years across a diverse range of project types including housing and civic facilities. Typically designed to be delivered by the Council’s works team, the buildings are designed to deliver the maximum facility for the allocated funds. Often based around “kit-form” framing, the buildings are bespoke to the needs of the township growing quickly in both population and tourism numbers.
Projects completed, and in progress of construction include :
- a two-level … sqm general store, including specialty outlets for a butcher and baker
- expansion of the short-term accommodation complex
- a rangers’ base with offices, visitors’ facility, animal housing & vehicle storage
- council chambers and disaster management centre
- an aged care centre with accommodation
- minor service buildings

Since 2013, myriad has been working closely with the Hope Vale Aboriginal Shire Council building team to see the construction of over 30 new residences. Each one has been built by the team, achieving exemplary rates of employment & training.
With long standing relationships, we have designed & documented a significant number of dwellings for these communities, with the aim to maximise the role of local workforce, thus creating training, employment and importantly local ownership.
Mapoon is growing as a township, and now many of the Elders are returning to their traditional homeland. Driven by this growth is the need to develop a Home and Community Care Centre that includes onsite residential care, as well as support services to the broader community.
